About the Oregon AFL-CIO
Working together for Oregon’s working families. The Oregon AFL-CIO, which represents more than 225,000 working men and women in Oregon, is the leading voice for Oregon’s working families. The Oregon AFL-CIO isn’t a union—it’s a federation of hundreds of unions and non-represented workers throughout the state of Oregon in a wide range of professions: steelworking, nursing, firefighting, transportation, teaching, building and construction, baking, musical performance, telecommunications, office administration and more.
The Oregon AFL-CIO is part of the national American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO)—a voluntary federation of America's unions, representing 10.5 million members, including 2 million members in Working America, its community affiliate. The AFL-CIO was formed in 1955 by the merger of the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations.
