Immigration Resources
At the 2019 Oregon AFL-CIO Convention, our delegates unanimously passed a resolution encouraging union members and leaders to stand publicly in solidarity with fellow union members who as immigrants and refugees continue to be targeted by racist and xenophobic rhetoric, violence and harmful policies.

Central to the mission of the Oregon AFL-CIO is the steadfast defense of the rights of all working people, which absolutely includes immigrants and refugees. It is through that work that we provide working people and unions with resources to help defend the rights immigrants and refugees. If you are interested in additional resources, organizing strategies or anything else please contact our office.
DEFEND & RESIST
Too often, workplace raids and audits are used as cover to suppress the rights of working people who speak up for safe, just and dignified working conditions. The National AFL-CIO has put together a toolkit for organizers and advocates regarding workplace raids, I-9 audits and more. Click here to access the Defend & Resist Toolkit.

RESISTING ICE SUBPOENAS
Recently, ICE has issued subpoenas directly to law enforcement agencies across the country requesting information about immigrants. ICE is using these subpoenas to obtain information that is protected from disclosure under Oregon law—in other words, as an end-run around Oregon’s efforts to disentangle itself from federal immigration enforcement actions. Oregon is a sanctuary state, subpoenas were a way for the Trump administration to target sanctuary cities.
