We Won’t Be Silenced by Attacks on Federal Workers

Oregon AFL-CIO President Graham Trainor issued the following statement in response to a new executive order from the Trump administration stripping union and collective bargaining rights from tens of thousands of federal workers:
Let’s call this what it is: a direct assault on working people.
With one executive order, the Trump administration is stripping union rights from tens of thousands of federal workers—silencing their voices at more than 30 agencies. These are the same workers who keep our food safe, care for our veterans, and protect public health. Now, they’re being punished for standing up to this administration in court.
This isn’t some policy change—it’s union-busting, plain and simple. It’s pulled right out of Project 2025 and meant to weaken worker power and dismantle unions.
In Oregon, we don’t back down from a fight. We know what it means to stand up to bullies. And we won’t stand by while extremists try to roll back generations of progress. To our union siblings across the federal government—we see you, we’ve got your back, and we’re in this with you.
